I am Spanish professor in American University and I collaborate with other universities like Kentucky and with USAC Abroad.  I got the diploma of Digital Skills for Teachers by the Uned and the Masters in E-learning: New Technologies for learning through the web by the University of Sevilla. Here I developed a project of teaching Spanish through an online platform called Moodle. Aside from this I have experience as a tutor for other teachers in the realm of new technologies applied to the teaching of the ELE. Also I have the educational background needed for the managing of educational projects. As an instructional designer I am skilled to adjust content to the needs of each individual wether in private classes or group classes.

My name is Pilar and I am going to make a brief introduction about myself so that you know me. I have a degree in Spanish Language and Literature, which I studied at UNED, with the specialty of teaching Spanish as a second and foreign language. I have also studied the master’s degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language at the University of Nebrija. Thanks to the master’s degree and the internships, I began to produce didactic material for all levels, from A1 to C2, with collaborations at Madrid Spanish Institute. I have experience giving language classes to children and adults, with volunteering in the Red Cross of French classes to older people. It is important to mention my current master’s thesis, which I will present live at the end of September 2020 at the University of Nebrija, and which deals with the teaching of taboos and euphemisms to speakers of Chinese origin of level B1.1 through of the flipped classroom method. The flipped classroom method combines work in class with work at home with the use of technological resources provided by the teacher to the students, such as videos, audios, texts or exercises, among others. This entails a small investigation on the teaching of culture and pragmatics for languages, as well as a didactic proposal of four classes around this topic and resources.

I have worked as an instructor and lecturer at the training course for teachers of Spanish as a foreign language, offered by the Ilustre Colegio Oficial de Doctores y licenciados en Ciencias y Letras (Official Association of Doctors and Graduates in the Arts and Sciences) in Malaga.

Throughout my career, I have been able to attend various professional gatherings and training programs for teachers of Spanish as a foreign language. All of them have given me a great deal of professional and personal satisfaction.

I was a member of the Electra team that published the textbook Español en contexto (Spanish in context) for intermediate-level (B2) students. I am also the author of the textbook series Español para extranjeros (Spanish for foreigners) for all levels within the Common European Framework of Reference for languages –A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2.

As for my knowledge of foreign languages, I am a proficient speaker of English (C1 level) and currently also studying French at a language school.

Originally from Chicago, Mr. Tim Ashe, Jr. (M.A. in Spanish Teaching and Bilingual/ESL Education) is a linguist who specializes in curriculum development and the teaching of languages with technology.  He has over 15 years of experience teaching adult and adolescent students of all ages in both Spanish and English and specializes in using mobile applications to teach languages, cultures, and cultural competence.  In addition to being a native English speaker, he has a C2 Superior Level of Spanish, is TOEFL/TEFL certified globally and is also fluent in Portuguese and reads and writes in Italian.  He has over 7 years of experience in study abroad programs in Spain and has lead programs in Madrid, Santander, León, Segovia, and Zaragoza.  He will finish is PhD in Spanish Linguistics this year and is committed to helping you with your language learning needs.

I have always been interested in education and in different teaching methodologies, first as a student and later on as a teacher, and I truly believe that the future will continue surprising us with exciting changes so we have to be open and prepared for it.

This goes not only in the role that we, teacher and students, assume every day, but also in the method and educational tools we use, and not forgetting of course, about the content and evaluation, always in constant evolution. Perhaps what is calling me for attention the most is the change of paradigm itself, in the teaching and learning concept.

I Graduated from Spanish III Carlos. My major is Spanish Modern Literature and Linguistics (Master’s degree). And I worked as a translator and administrative assistant in MSI

I have taught at all levels, prepared students for numerous exams including the DELE exam. I have worked for Spanish business and have a wealth of experience with Spanish companies. Currently I work as an editor and proofreader in Madrid Spanish Institute, an activity that I combine with content development for various e-learning projects.
