What is the CCSE test?

The CCSE test consists of 25 questions on two types of content, to accredited knowledge of the Spanish Constitution and the social and cultural reality of Spain:
Government, legislation and citizen participation in Spain (15 questions) and Spanish culture, history and society (10  questions).
It consists of five tasks that contain a total of 25 closed-response questions: there are questions with three response options of which only one is true, and others with a single answer option of true or false).
The test lasts a maximum of 45 minutes.

The CCSE test is aimed at all those people who want to obtain Spanish nationality. People of any nationality over 18 years old can register to take the CCSE test.

Who are exempt from taking the CCSE test?

  • the minors;
  • people with the capacity modified judicially.

They may be excused from taking the CCSE test, provided they are accredited and approved by the Ministry of Justice:

  • the illiterate people;
  • people who have learning difficulties; they have been schooled in Spain and have passed compulsory secondary education.

Registrations and payment must be made online, after having registered, within the private space of the Instituto Cervantes user. The test takes place on the last Thursday of each month, at 6:00 p.m. and at 8:00 p.m. (local time of the exam country).

How many times can I examine myself each time I sign up?

Enrollment in the CCSE test gives the right to be presented up to a maximum of two times, only in case a candidate does not pass the test on the first attempt, or has not been presented in the first call.

It must be submitted to the second call in the same examination center where the first one was held and within a maximum period of 18 months from the date of the examination.

Candidates enrolled in the CCSE must present themselves at the examination center on the day they have registered and at the time that the examination center has called them (minimum at 5:30 p.m. or at 7:30p.m., depending on enrollment), according to the local time zone of the testing center.

The price of registration for the CCSE test in 2018 is 85 euros. This price includes the examination fees, the issuance of the qualification certification.
